Stress is very common in today’s world. Many of us undergo stress meeting the deadlines and trying to deliver the work well in terms of quality and quantity. This tension gives rise to headaches, which are aptly named as Stress headaches. The symptoms are overt, the victim often shows jaw movements, like tightening of jaw muscles, grinding of teeth. There may be giddiness along with the headaches. This type of headaches results from long-standing stress in life.
Stress headaches are different from migraines, in the context that they are not preceded by an aura. Migraines are preceded by a set of symptoms, which typically occur before the onset of the actual migraine headache. Stress headaches are not accompanied by other symptoms like abdominal discomforts such as vomiting, nausea, appearance of flashes of light or sensitivity to bright lights or sounds.
Stress may be long-standing or short-termed. Short-term stress may result in increase in the heart rates, clenching of muscles, and changes in respiration, which may be shallow breathing. Sweating and dryness of mouth may occur. But this kind of acute stress is generally not accompanied by headaches.
Stress headaches may be caused by completely different reasons like food intolerances or allergies. Thus, even if the person seeks help to ward off stress, he may not get relief from the headaches.
