There are various types of migraine, and so are the symptoms of migraine. The occurrence of migraine is more common in the middle aged persons. Owing to the universal fact about the middle-age crisis, these persons may get the symptoms due to the stress involved in their life, although there are numerous other factors that may cause the migraines.

The migraine occurs with a severe throbbing pain on one side of the head, which may or may not be accompanied by one or more symptoms of migraine like vomiting, increased visual and aural sensitivity. The intensity of the pain may also vary from a dull pain on one side of the head to a great agonizing headache.

The triggers of migraine also come in as wide a range as the types. The one of the causes of migraine are known to be the changes in the size of the blood vessels in the temporal region of the head. The changes may be narrowing down of arteries and then sudden dilation, acting upon the nerve endings in the region, which in turn perceive the pressure on them. The chemicals released by these nerves send the impulses to the brain as pain sensations. This pain sensation comes as the headache, which can be pulsating and throbbing. The symptoms of migraine vary according to the tolerance limits of the person.

The typical migraine is characterized by several stages of the occurrence of the symptoms. A set of symptoms precede the actual migraine headaches. They include experiencing visual changes, nausea, and vomiting. They may also occur alongside the headache causing more distress to the person.

Migraines are not life-threatening conditions. However, the symptoms of migraine can be avoided to keep the sufferings at bay. Moreover, if the attack is intense enough for the person to affect his cognitive abilities, it is better to seek a professional help.

Whether children or adults, migraine shows no mercy. It is found that migraines affect the families generation after generation, and the symptoms manifest right from the childhood. To see a child showing symptoms of migraines at an early age, is an added misery to a parent who themselves suffer from the condition. Moreover, when the children’s headaches occur in a different pattern that is not being understood by the parent, it brings old reminiscences back.

When a child suffers the migraine, their routine life is disturbed. They may have to miss the school and games and all other fun activities. The headaches may be so severe that the child may not be able to carry on the routine activities. All this is in addition to putting up with the misery of a severe headache. Their irritability can last for far more time than the actual episode of the migraine attack. They might be unhappy to have missed all their favorite activities, and this might make them all the more irritable.

Although migraines have been associated with dull weathers, children do get the attacks on sunny days, too. The medications only go as far as to reduce the intensity of the attack, but do not actually prevent further attacks. This symptomatic treatment is not an answer to the parents who see their children suffering and to the migraine children themselves. There are natural alternatives to the over the counter drugs that are commercially available, which are simple, easy to follow and give quick relief from the headaches. It is wise to use natural remedies to get rid of the headaches than to face the agony of the seeing your child suffering the same way as you once did.
